The Charlton Lawn Tennis Club holds an annual three day tennis tournament over the Australia Day weekend on 16 grass courts. There are Open, A, B, C and D grades in each event of mens and ladies singles, mens and ladies doubles and mixed doubles. An over 35 changing partners doubles event is provided on the singles day for those who do not wish to play singles; an under 14 event is also held on similar lines.
Mixed doubles are played on day one, singles on the second day and doubles on the third day; all events are on a round robin format, guaranteeing everyone at least three sets each day they play.
The club has excellent facilities, an extensive shade area fully enclosed by a child-proof fence, with all catering provided over the weekend. The tournament has a friendly family atmosphere and Charlton is located on the Calder Highway and on either side of the Avoca River.
Accommodation is provided by a B&B, two motels, two hotels, an en-suite caravan park and a caravan/tent park. There are a number of coffee/eatery options.
