We offer the very best in new release arthouse films together with upmarket commercial releases, regular special film events and festivals, all in a warm, intimate environment of architecturally challenging design.

Cinema Nova had its beginnings as a twin arthouse cinema when it opened in August 1992 and has been expanding in size and diversity ever since. Two years after opening, the Nova doubled in size to a four screen complex; adding a fifth screen a year later. December 1999 saw Cinemas 6, 7 and 8 open to a public with an insatiable appetite for fine film. In 2004 three more screens opened including Melbourne’s first purely digital cinema screen. In 2010, just in time for Cinema Nova’s 18th birthday, a further 4 screens were added bringing the total to 15 auditoria.
